Stretch Marks
I'm a mother of three and have been blessed with the telltale sign of carrying three beautiful babies in my belly! Yes...I have the unwanted STRETCH MARKS!
Stretch marks are just superficial tears in your skin.
But, I have great news! If you're like me and wish to minimize the appearance of your stretch marks, spray tans can definitely help.
There are two types of stretch marks; New & Old. They differ in appearance and typically don't take to the DHA as well as normal or healthy skin.
Let me share some techniques I use while spray tanning both new & old stretch marks.
Old Stretch Marks
Typically appear white or silver in appearance.
Our goal is to minimize the appearance of them by making them darker to match the spray tan.
Technique: Use a lipstick wand or airbrush gun to paint the solution on them, blend the area and then we spray tan the body as usual.
I personally don’t feel like I need to do that as mine blend nicely with just a normal spray tan application.
New Stretch Marks
Typically appear bright pink, red, blue, black or purple in appearance.
For these to blend- we want to try to not make them any darker.
Technique: use a lipstick wand to put a thin layer of barrier cream on the stretch marks to protect them from the DHA so they don’t get darker and will end up blending nicely with the rest of your spray tan.
Tan Line Correction
The weather is getting and staying warm and more outdoor activities are on the rise.
Reminder to wear sunscreen and protective clothing!!!
Natural tans typically last just as long as sunless tans…7-10 days. although this can vary for each different skin type and colour. However, any exposure to sun during that 7-10 day period could mean that your tan will hang around for longer, so the length of time it lasts really does depend on the individual.
We can minimize the appearance of tan lines with techniques that are similarly used with stretch marks.
Technique:
Use a airbrush gun on the lighter areas of tan line with a darker solution first, blend and then spray the entire body with a lighter solution. This will help even out that harsh tan line but I can’t guarantee that it will completely hide it.
In Closing
I hope this episode has added value to you.
Hopefully, I shared some information that you might not have known and have encouraged you to use my recommendations for skin prep and after-care for dry or oily skin. If so, you'll end up with a flawless spray tan!
